Basic English Proficiency Program
For English language learners who are adults or young adults, this is a thorough course. All four language skills—speaking, listening, reading, and writing—are covered, with a focus on oral communication. This course covers language function and life skills in great detail in addition to providing a solid foundation in grammar.
Teaches grammar inductively
Through discussions and scenarios with illustrations, the fundamental structures are introduced in context. When discussing the scenarios and acting out the dialogues, the students make use of the structures. Students come across each structure in a range of settings, such as readings, practice problems, and pair work tasks. Students can form accurate and helpful generalizations about the language thanks to this recurrent exposure. They acquire a “language sense”—a notion of what words mean—that permeates their everyday English usage.
Includes language function
From basic to advanced levels in each chapter, a variety of opportunities are presented by guided conversations, discussions, and role plays to practice asking and providing information, expressing likes and dislikes, agreeing and disagreeing, and so on.
Provides extensive practice in listening comprehension
Before listening to the accompanying story (which is printed on the back of the page), students are required to provide an explanation of each artwork in their own words. After then, while examining the artwork, kids respond to questions based on the narrative. Without consulting a text, the students react to what they hear and see in real-world dialogue.
