Basic Computer Literacy

Basic computer learning is created in the inspiration that an individual doesn’t have understanding of basic computer operation. Learning the topics such as basic computer parts and their basic function, practical computer application, basic computer word processing, Powerpoint presentation and the Internet.

In order to get a comprehensive learning of basic computers course, AiMS Learning International encourages all computer students to take all the modules of this program.

This module presents an general idea of computing technology and the field of computer science. Dialogue issue will include the group of modern computers, the history of computer technology, the societal impact of technology, and the moral issues and concerns related to computing. Since the World Wide Web has evolved into a universal medium for communication and computation, special emphasis will be placed on studying the Web and related technologies.

Microsoft Word is a popular word-processing program used for creating documents such as letters, brochures, learning activities, tests, quizzes and students; homework assignments. There are many powerful features available in Microsoft Word to make it easier to learn for students with disabilities.

This module was planned both for users who are new to Excel or have very little knowledge using the functionality of Excel. It assumes that you have at least some familiarity with operating Microsoft office applications, for example opening and closing documents and using toolbars. Although it uses what is now the most recent version of MS Excel, you will most likely find that the lessons in this tutorial will work on earlier versions.

Excel offers an enormous number of possible functions, tools and options for use. Because there are so many things to learn about Excel, the approach of this tutorial is to give you a solid understanding of the basic functionality of Excel, show you a few essential tools and then explain some specific uses that you might find helpful for completing tasks and operations related to the library and information science field.

This tutorial provides an overview of how to use many of the basic features of Microsoft Powerpoint. Step-by-step instructions are provided for: creating presentations; adding new slides; using spell check; saving a presentation; previewing a presentation; inserting clip art; moving and resizing objects; using graphic images from the Internet; moving, copying, and deleting slides; adding transitions; adding animations; applying a template; and printing a presentation.

Microsoft Publisher is a program that can be used for creating all types of newsletters, brochures, flyers, menus, banners, etc. You’ll discover how scanned images, clip-art graphics, and distinctive typefaces can make your print documents and Web pages come alive in no time-without spending a lot of money.
